St Pete Pride expands programming this year for the Transgender Community,

2018 TransPride March sponsored by Tech Data and Metro Wellness, Health & Community

St. Petersburg, FL, June 18, 2018 – Last year’s historic inaugural St Pete Pride TransPride March included over 500 participants, many first time attendees of St Pete Pride. This year, the organizers are planning for over 1,000 attendees. The TransPride March is “a time to come together as a community – transgender and gender-expansive people, families, and allies – and to inspire our local community to be a space where the trans community is safe, loved, and empowered,” said Nathan Bruemmer, leading organizer and St Pete Pride board member.

Tech Data and Metro Wellness, Health & Community are this year’s sponsors. Metro provides a variety of programs and services to the transgender community, including healthcare, support groups, and counseling services. Tech Data is a leading example of a corporate culture embracing diversity and inclusion as a standard business practice.

Feedback from last year’s march was overwhelmingly positive. So the organizers added a kick-off event on Friday, June 22nd. Flying Boat Brewery will host TRANSTASTIC, a family-friendly Trans Pride March kick-off event from 5:30 – 9:00pm. The event will include a DJ, food truck, and The Tampa Bay International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival will showcase a short film.

The first 1,000 pre-registered marchers will receive a free T-shirt designed by Dash Creative. Online registration for the 2018 TransPride March is available at Organizers encourage everyone to pre-register. Only pre-registered marchers can be guaranteed a t-shirt. Check-in for the TransPride March will be from 4:30-6:30pm at the Vinoy Park.
