Job Description:

St Pete Pride is a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote unity, visibility, self-esteem and a positive image of and among the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community of Tampa Bay and throughout the State of Florida by way of cultural and educational programs and activities.

St Pete Pride seeks an experienced, energetic, and engaged community leader to work with the board of directors to fulfill our mission and vision. The Executive Director will also partner with the City of St Petersburg, surrounding communities, and other key stakeholders within the LBGT community.

The successful candidate must be a relationship-driven professional with proven skills in fund development, financial operations, program development, technology, management, and communications. Salary will be commensurate with experience.

Job Purpose:

The Executive Director is responsible for the successful leadership and management of the organization in keeping with the strategic direction set by the Board of Directors and Mission Statement.

Minimum Requirements for Applicants

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Five years (minimum) of experience in the nonprofit sector, occupying and/or working directly with executive positions
  • Familiar with federal, state, and local regulatory laws relating to 501c3 non-profits
  • Material experience working in partnership with a board of directors, city officials and applicable key stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational abilities including planning, delegating, program development and task facilitation
  • Knowledge of fundraising strategies and donor relations unique to nonprofit sector
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including public speaking


  • Leadership, long-term strategic planning and execution
  • Understand, support and champion the organization’s vision
  • Identify, assess, and inform the Board of Directors of internal and external issues that affect the organization
  • Act as a professional advisor to the Board of Director on all aspects of the organization's activities
  • Foster effective team work between the Board and the Executive Director
  • Work with committees, volunteers and external organizations to implement goals and events
  • Participate in an annual evaluation and update of the strategic plan
  • Fundraising and grant writing
  • Recruitment, hiring, and supervision of paid staff
